River Barn welcomes Honeycone to our freezer.

Welcome to our very first post on the River Barn Blog!

When we opened the barn doors to guests just over two months ago, we knew one of the most important things we wanted to do was to find ways to support our local businesses - whether it be purchasing and using their products in the barn, offering edible treats to surprise our guests or promoting our new friends’ store events on our social media channels. You will find a guide we created on our website for things to do, places to eat and drink as well as places to shop during your stay. In addition to all of this, we have been looking for the right opportunity to start collaborating with some of the best local business owners in unique ways.

For the month of February, we present to you “stock the freezer,” brought to you by Honeycone Craft Ice Cream. We are excited to share that all of our February guests are in for a real "sweet" treat! The barn’s freezer is stocked with Valentine's Day flavored pints of ice cream. And the best part? The first pint is on us. Flavors will include: chili chocolate, red velvet, chocolate covered strawberry, and Zinfandel (sorbet). We will also have coconut stracciatella (non dairy) and cherry vanilla (non dairy).

Honeycone, a female-owned, mother and daughter duo, has such a fun story on how they got their start, amidst a pandemic nonetheless. And when we tell you that it’s never too cold for ice cream, we mean it. Stroll down the street in the adorable town of Chester, CT during your visit (just a 10 minute drive from the barn) and you’ll notice a line out their front door, even in the middle of February!

We look forward to hosting all of our guests this month and are excited to partner with more local businesses in the future to bring a little extra joy and excitement to your upcoming stay at the River Barn.
